What we hold and what we do with it
We keep the least we can, we say plainly where it goes, and nothing here is sold or handed to an advertiser. This page says what is collected, who else sees it, how long it is kept and how to have it deleted.
Last changed 23 October 2026.
What is collected
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The pages you open | Our host writes a line for every request, with your address and browser in it. It is how a site is kept up and how abuse is spotted. | Held by the host for a short window and not read by us unless something breaks |
| What you type into a quote or a booking | Your name, email, telephone, the age of the driver, your town, the dates, where you are going, the size of the party and anything you write in the notes. We cannot hold a rig for somebody we cannot reach. | Kept with the trip record |
| The agreement and the paperwork | That you signed, when, and the name of any document you attached. The file itself is not stored anywhere in this build. | Kept with the trip record |
| What you say to Sally | The messages both ways, so the conversation makes sense and so a person at the desk can pick it up. If you send a member ID, the thread is joined to your trip. | Ninety days, then deleted by a job that runs every night |
| A counter that stops flooding | So one address cannot send a thousand messages an hour. Your address is hashed with a secret and the hour, and the address itself is never written down. | Two days |
What is never collected
- Card numbers. No payment is taken anywhere on this site and there is no card field to type one into.
- The files you attach. Only the name of a document is recorded.
- Your location. Nothing here asks the browser where you are.
- Anything about anybody under thirteen. See below.
Sally and what she is
Sally is software. She says so when anybody asks her, and she is told never to claim otherwise. A real person at the desk reads the threads and picks up the ones that need a human, so what you write to her is read by us.
To answer you, your message and the earlier part of the conversation are sent to Anthropic, which is the company whose model writes the words. If your thread is joined to a trip, she is also told the facts of that trip, meaning your first name, your rig, your dates, where you are going and what is still owed. She is not told your email, your address, your paperwork or anything about any other customer.
She cannot take a payment, hold a date or cancel anything, so nothing she says can move money. Anything of that kind is written down for a person and you are told so at the time.
Two words that work
Send STOP and she stops. Send FORGET ME and the whole conversation is deleted at our end while you wait. Messages already filed on a trip stay on that trip, because they are part of the rental record, and the desk will take those out if you ask a person for that.
If children are at the fire she asks how many and roughly how old, so she does not tell a frightening story to a small child. She is told never to ask for a child's name and no answer about a child is kept beyond the thread itself.
What the assistant is for, and what it is not
Sally answers questions about an RV, a trip and a campsite. She is a help line and nothing more than that. She is not a mechanic, a roadside service, a booking system or an adviser on anything legal, medical, insurance or money, and she cannot move a date or take a payment.
She can be wrong. Answers about a vehicle nobody has seen are a starting point for somebody who knows the rig, and anything that matters for safety should be checked against the manual or by a qualified person before it is acted on. Nobody should do work on a vehicle they are not comfortable doing. If a rig is not safe to drive, the answer is always to stop and telephone, and in a fire, a crash, a gas leak that will not stop or any injury the answer is to get out and ring 911.
On a rig rented from us she talks through checks rather than repairs, because work on our vehicle is ours to authorize. The full list of what she can and cannot do is printed on the assistant page.
Who else touches it
Five companies, and only these five. None of them is paid to profile you. Google also sells advertising, which is why it is named here.
| Who | What they do | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Netlify | Hosts the site and holds the trip records and the message threads. Servers in the United States. | They are the filing cabinet, not a user of it |
| Anthropic | Turns your message into Sally's answer. The message and the facts about your trip go over for that one answer and come straight back. | Not used to train a model, under their commercial terms |
| OpenStreetMap | Draws the campground maps. Loading a map tells them your address, the same as opening any map. | Only on a page with a map on it |
| Cloudflare | Serves the map library the same pages use. | Only on a page with a map on it |
| Google Analytics | Counts visits and which pages get read, using cookies it sets in your browser. It loads once you scroll, tap or type, or a few seconds after the page opens. | We see totals, not who you are |
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site, such as which pages are viewed and when someone taps a phone number or sends a form. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information like pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location. It does not receive what you type into our forms. Learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Text messages
If you give us a number and ask us to text you, we text you about your trip. Message and data rates from your carrier are your own. Reply STOP to any message and it stops, reply HELP and you get a person. Agreeing to texts is never a condition of renting anything.
Cookies and what sits in your browser
The only cookies here are the Google Analytics ones named above. Apart from those, three small things are written into the browser itself and never leave it. A thread number so a reload does not lose your conversation, the role you picked in the back office, and the passcode for as long as that tab is open. Clearing your browser data removes all three.
What you can ask for
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Write to the address at the bottom of this page and we answer within thirty days. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. Asking does not change what you are charged or how you are treated, because there is no reward scheme here for handing over data.
If you are outside the United States, everything here is stored in the United States, and sending us your details means you are content with that.
Children
This is a service for adults renting vehicles. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything about anybody under thirteen. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and it goes.
How it is kept safe
Everything moves over an encrypted connection. Your trip page opens from a long random link, so keep that link to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it.
Asking us anything
Write to hello@rvtravelagency.com or call (909) 259-7837. If this page changes we change the date at the top, and if it changes in a way that matters we say so on the site.
