Camping on the sand at Oceanside

Sixty two miles to a site where you open the door onto the beach. The sites are narrow, the turns are tight and the winter is the best kept secret on this coast.

An hour and a bit to the water

Sixty two miles from the yard and about eighty minutes, most of it on the 15 and then across on the 76. Easy road the whole way.

What you get at the end of it is genuinely rare. Very few places let you park an RV where the ocean is the view out the door rather than a walk away.

The sand side is worth the tanks

The state beach runs hookups on the inland loops and dry sites on the ocean side. The ocean side costs you power and water and it is still the one to book.

Two nights dry is comfortable in a modern unit with a full fresh tank. Three starts to be a conversation about the shower.

These sites are tight

The loops were laid out when RVs were smaller. The sites are narrow, the corners are close and there is usually somebody watching you back in.

Stay under twenty eight feet unless you have done it before. This is the destination where our delivery and setup earns its money, because we back it in and level it and you arrive to a made site.

Winter is the secret

Everybody wants July. December through February is half the price, half the crowd and the same ocean, and the days still run into the sixties.

Nights get down into the forties and the furnace handles that without noticing. Bring a jacket for the evening and you have the beach to yourself.

Book earlier than feels sensible

California state beach sites open on a rolling window six months out and the good ones are gone in minutes. This is not a destination you decide on a Thursday.

Tell us the dates as early as you have them and we will work the unit around what you can actually get.

What we would send you out in

A camper van or a short trailer. Small is the whole strategy here, because it opens up sites that a long unit simply cannot use.

A van also means you can drive into town for dinner without breaking camp, which at this particular spot is worth more than the extra few feet of living space.
