Recalls on file

NHTSA has 11 recalls on file for the Skyline Nomad. The most common areas are fuel system (2), latches and locks and linkages (1) and service brakes (1). Each one is listed below as filed. A recall is fixed free at a dealer, even on a used rig, and even years later.

Latches/locks/linkages · model years 2006 to 2013 · 13V652000, filed December 9, 2013

What is wrong. Skyline Corporation (Skyline) is recalling certain model year 2006-2013 recreational vehicle travel trailers and fifth-wheel trailers manufactured January 1, 2006, through May, 31, 2013 and equipped with Fastec-brand door locks. It may be possible to remove the key from the lock in a way that potentially jams the deadbolt.

What can happen. If the deadbolt jams, the interior side of the door lock may also jam. A person inside the travel trailer at the time will then be locked in and be unable to exit the vehicle without using the emergency exit, increasing the risk of injury.

The fix. Skyline will notify owners, and Fastec will coordinate the inspection and replacement of the cylinders, as needed, free of charge. The recall began on April 7, 2014. Owners may contact Skyline at 1-800-755-6521 or Fastec at 1-800-837-2505.

What can happen. WITH CONTAMINATED BRAKES, THE VEHICLE MAY FAIL TO STOP PROPERLY, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH AND/OR INJURY WITHOUT WARNING.

The fix. LIPPERT COMPONENTS WILL PERFORM THE REQUIRED INSPECTION AND MAKE ANY NECESSARY CORRECTIONS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JULY 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LIPPERT AT 1-866-524-7821 OR SKYLINE AT 1-800-348-7469.

Questions owners ask

Where can I find the Skyline Nomad owner's manual?

Skyline does not have manuals online that we could find. The makers of the fridge, water heater, furnace and slides do, and they cover most of the rig. Our free manuals on this page explain how each system works.

Does the Skyline Nomad have any recalls?

Yes. NHTSA lists 11 recalls for it. The most common area is fuel system. Check your own VIN on the NHTSA site to see if yours was fixed.

Is a recall repair free on a used RV?

Yes. A safety recall is fixed free by the maker's dealers no matter who owns the rig now or how old it is. Call the maker or any dealer for that brand with your VIN.

Where is the VIN on an RV?

Look for a sticker by the entry door, inside a cabinet near the door, or on the tongue or front frame of a trailer. The title and registration show it too.

Renting one from us? Call or text 909-259-RVDR before you try a fix. We would rather talk you through it than have you guess, and it is free.
